President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has asked the Senate to confirm Dr Bernard Mohammed Doro from Plateau State as a minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
He will be replacing the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, who was the representative of the state in the federal cabinet before his new appointment.
The president’s request to the Senate was contained in a letter read by the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio , in plenary on Wednesday.
Tinubu said the request was based on section 147 sub section 2 of the 1999 constitution as amended, and urged the lawmakers to give it expeditious consideration.
Akpaboo referred it to the Committee of the Whole for further legislative action. Further action is expected to be taken on Tuesday next week as lawmakers will begin to depart for the Senate Constitution review retreat in Lagos on Thursday.
