
The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has announced the suspension of train operations on the Abuja-Kaduna route following the derailment that took place on Tuesday.
The development was revealed by NRC Managing Director, Kayode Opeifa, in a briefing with journalists.

Opeifa disclosed that NRC technical staff, the Nigeria Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) and other relevant agencies were currently at the derailment site investigating the incident.
While dismissing claims that the trains are not in good condition, he added that the refund of the ticket fees has been initiated for all passengers on board.

Speaking further, the NRC boss said six passengers sustained minor injuries and have since been treated.
According to Opeifa, the exact number of passengers onboard had not been ascertained.
