Two pilots on Thursday escaped unhurt when a Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Super Mushshak trainer aircraft crashlanded on Kaduna.
The minor accident, according to the NAF spokesman, Air Vice Marshal (AVM) Edward Gabkwet, occurred around 2:35pm at about 3.5 nautical miles from Kaduna Military airfield.
Gabkwet in a statement said the aircraft was returning from a routine training flight, adding that the two pilots came out of the crash unscathed.
He said the Chief of Air Staff (CAS) Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, had directed the conduct of a preliminary investigation to ascertain the immediate cause of the crash.
This was not the first time NAF’s Super Mushshak trainer aircraft would crash.
A similar incident occurred in April 2022 at the service’s base in Kaduna which killed two pilots, Flt. Lt. Abubakar Muhammed Alkali and Flt. Lt. Elijah Haruna Karatu.
The Pakistani built Super Mushshak aircraft is assigned to the Flying Training School Kaduna for primary flight training of pilots.
