Nnamdi Azikiwe University(NAU) Awka, Anambra State on Wednesday honoured Chief Francis Ugochukwu Chikezie, the Igwe-Elect of Azia, with a prestigious award of Excellence.
The recognition was organized by the Faculty of Management Sciences under the leadership of the Head of the Department of Accountancy, Dr. Nestor Ndubuisi Amahalu.
The award was officially presented by the Acting Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Chinyelugo Carol Arinze-Umobi who was represented by the Acting Deputy Vice Chancellor, Very Rev. Fr. Prof. Chukwuemeka Agbonome.
In his remarks, the Acting Deputy Vice Chancellor praised Chief Chikezie as an epitome of excellence, describing him as an outstanding ambassador of peace, not only within his Azia community but across board.
The awardee, Chief Chikezie thanked the institution for finding him worthy of recognition, noting that the award would spur him to do more for his community, Anambra State, Nigeria and humanity.
The ceremony was graced by prominent members of the university community, including Prof. Aribodor, the incumbent Zonal President of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Dr. Celestine Ohachosim, a lecturer in the Department of Accountancy, and Dr. Tochukwu Ifeanyimuo of Department of Business Administration.
Distinguished sons of Azia who are serving at the institution were present to celebrate the significant recognition.
Christian Ejiofor, Press Secretary to Igwe-Elect while commenting on the recognition said that the accolade highlights Chief Chikezie’s dedication to fostering peace, excellence, and development within his community and beyond.
Ejiofor said that Igwe Azia elect’s leadership and contributions continue to inspire many, solidifying his reputation as a key figure in promoting unity and progress.
He noted that the award not only acknowledges his past achievements but also sets a standard for others to follow in contributing positively to the society.
