
Abia State government is not only building or renovating primary healthcare centres, but building them with world-class healthcare infrastructure, said the governor, Alex Otti.
Otti stated this at the launch of Okpuhu Nkpa and Umuenyere Alayi Primary Health Centres in Bende local government area as part of his „Project Ekwueme“. programme.

Represented by the commissioner for Health, Enoch Uche, he said the occasion brought to 42 out of the 50 centres set for launching this month under the signature programme.
Explaining that „the programme marked the end of over 24 years of total negligence on the health and welfare of the people“, he noted that he came to power to change the narratives.

Contributing, his special adviser on Media and Publicity, Ferdinand Ekeoma, who is from Alayi, expressed gratitude to him for the centres.
He recalled how the people stood by him during the 2023 campaign, noting that „today they are excited that he is keeping to the promise he made to them“.
In a remark, the mayor of the area, Uwabunkeonye Bassey, urged the people to own the projects which he described as a sure way to guarantee their security and protection.
Similarly, executive secretaries of the Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Ulu Kalu-Ulu, and the Health Insurance Agency, Chiedozie Egwuonwu noted the need for the centres.
They urged the people to key into the Basic Health Fund to register under the community based social health insurance programme fir them to access services at the centres.
