Wike’s Outbursts Stem From Crashed Third Term Ambition, Claims Omehia

Former Rivers State governor, Celestine Omehia, has taken a swipe at the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, describing him as a clown and serial liar.

He called on Wike to reduce his propensity for power and greed and allow the incumbent Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, to do his work.

Omehia, in a statement issued in Port Harcourt on Saturday by his Executive Assistant, Nicholas Amaechi, and obtained by our correspondent, was reacting to a live television interview that the former Rivers State governor, now FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike hosted in Abuja recently.

He said, “In the said interview, Wike described Omehia and other PDP leaders in Rivers State who declared support for the administration of Governor Sim Fubara and President Bola Tinubu last week as expired politicians and buccaneers.”

He described Wike’s uncontrolled outbursts as a product of a confused mind, Omehia, adding that Wike’s anger is that his ambition of a third term tenure has crashed and the people of Rivers State have realised that his quest for power is personal and not for the interest of Rivers state or the South-South at large as claimed.

“The FCT minister thought that he would continue to control and abuse the resources and governance of the state but God, through the people, resisted the impeachment plot by his members of the Rivers State House of Assembly,” Omehia said.

But an ally of the FCT minister and former member of the House of Representatives, Olaka Wogu, disagreed with Omehia.

He said, “He (Wike) is a man who cares for the people and also a man who believes in what he fights for. If he takes a position, if there is a reason, he fights for you.”

“We all queue towards people, love people and sometimes get disappointed and express disappointment. But Wike is not a politician who speaks from both sides of his mouth.”
