The Young Progressive Party (YPP) candidate for Anambra Central senatorial district, Dr Chinedu Umeadi says he would ensure that constituency project funds are judiciously allocated to his constituents.
The YPP senatorial hopeful for Anambra Central district made this pledge during an interactive session with journalists in Awka.
He pointed out that the seven council areas and different communities that constitutes his constituency have peculiar needs which according to him must be addressed after discussing with stakesholders.
Dr Umeadi said as a matter of fact that the interest and welfare of his constituents is driving force behind his aspiration noting that he is not in the senatorial race to represent self.
Dr Chinedu Umeadi in a response to a question said that he is not afraid of the old politicians who are contesting with him.
He said that rather than fear anyone of them, he has respect for all the candidates whether young or old noting that it is not really easy to bring one forward for the job.
Dr Umeadi however noted that the realities of things on ground is even working against the old politicians as people now want things done differently.
“I have a strategy to beat the old war horses, interestingly, YPP has a structure which I have expanded, the all inclusiveness of YPP has of course is in line with my approach to politics.
‘I am a youthful candidate with huge youths oriented programs, I have also been engaging them, my eleven points manifesto is simple and easy to understand, my foundation has been doing a whole lot of activities for the youths, that must be the reason they endorse my candidature.
“Interestingly, the endorsement of my candidature for Anambra Central Senatorial Race is not limited to the youths, many people are in support of my aspiration because they are tired of the old order” The YPP senatorial hopeful explained.
Dr Umeadi while commenting on the security situation in the country said that he would engage the stakesholders so as to boost security of lives.
He pointed out that security is a collective responsibility and that all hands must be on the deck to ensure that lives are secured in the state in general and Anambra Central Senatorial zone in particular.
Dr Umeadi, the YPP senatorial hopeful stressed the need to channel security intervention to the right sources.
He also expressed his preparedness to sponsor motions and bills in the Senate that will prohibit industrial action in the education and health sectors, this according to him would be done with serious discussion with stakeholders in the two sectors so as not to infringe on their fundamental human rights.
“Strikes have destroyed a whole lot of people, I have seen good boys and girls turn bad just because their academic programs got disrupted, similarly, lives have been wasted in the health sector on the account of industrial action, there must be a comprehensive solution to this ugly development.” He said.
