The Special Adviser to Governor Willie Obiano on Indigenous Medicine and Herbal practice, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim, has warned those peddling all kinds of herbal products in the State without coming to his office for approval to desist forthwith.
Speaking in an interview with the ABS in Awka, Dr Ibezim regretted the high rate of unauthorized herbal products being peddled by some people in the State, saying that his office will soon begin to clamp down on such illegal products.
He disclosed that the Anambra State government has forwarded for enlistment, six herbal products for the management of COVID-19 to the National Agency for Food, Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC.
According to Dr Ibezim, the forwarding for the enlistment of the six Herbal products is coming after they were properly scrutinized by the Anambra State Traditional Medicine Board, and commended Governor Willie Obiano for his support to the office of Indigenous Medicine and Herbal Practice, which he said has enabled them to achieve the desired results.
Dr Ibezim who is also the Managing Director of the Anambra State Oxygen Production Plant called on Indigenous Medicine and Herbal practitioners to desist from behaviours that will portray them in bad light.
He maintained that the Anambra State government is committed to making policies that will make Herbal Practitioners in the State to achieve their feat in line with the International best practices.
Dr Ibezim disclosed that his office will continue to engage in meaningful consultations that will take Indigenous Medicine and Herbal practice to the next level.
used the opportunity to advise the citizenry to always wear their protective face masks, maintain social distancing, in addition to washing their hands regularly with soap under clean running water for at least twenty seconds, make proper use of sanitizers in order to prevent the spread of coronavirus which is currently ravaging the International Community.
