Ajaero: Airport protest didn’t go as planned – Aviation union

The Vice President of the Aviation Union, Chris Omagbemi has disclosed that the protest at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja on Thursday that disrupted activities at the airport was in connection to the maltreatment of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Joe Ajaero in Owerri.

Speaking to Nigerian Tribune via phone call, the Abuja Union Vice President stated that the protest did not go completely according to plan.

“The plan was to stop all flights going to Owerri, but we had some mixed up. Tomorrow there would not be any blockage at the airport but we will stop all flights to Owerri” he stated.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo has appealed to the Union to refrain from further protest.

He said the country loses a lot of money anytime there is a disruption at any of the major airports.

It is reported that the NLC President was arrested and by the Nigerian Police on the orders of the Imo state Governor, Hope Udozima few days ago.
