The chairman and CEO, SACON Group, Chief Sam Okey Nwosu says the Anambra State governoship candidate for the All Progressives Congress (APC) Sen Andy Uba is the most misunderstood and maligned personality because of his gentle and peaceful disposition.
Chief Nwosu an APC stalwart stated this during an interaction with journalists in Awka.
The international businessman said that all manners of allegations are heaped on the APC guber candidate because he is not known for noise making like many politicians.
The chairman and CEO of SACON Group pointed out that the allegation that Sen Andy Uba sold Anambra State owned Ikenga Hotels when he was the governor of the state for just seventeen days is most ridiculous.
“Political opponents can always cook up whatever they like against Sen Andy Uba because he is a quiet person, for crying out loud, how can someone sell Ikenga Hotels in just seventeen days he was in the saddle of leadership. Won’t there be evaluation and other processes before government asset is sold?”
“I can tell you authoritatively that the Uba brothers are not responsible for burning down some government facilities in Anambra, many top flight politicians including the Ubas were using my hotel facilities and I remember vividly that the then governor called me on phone and asked me to send them out of my hotel but I told him I am a businessman and cannot do that.
“The same people who burnt down some government properties came and set my hotel on fire, do you want to tell me that the same people who are being accused of commiting the crime also want to burn themselves in my hotel?” Chief Nwosu quipped.
He said emphatically that Sen Andy Uba is a very intelligent and accessible person who learnt statecraft and political perfection from the former president, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo.
“We cannot afford to throw away a quality material like Sen Andy Uba on the grounds of fallacious allegations.” He insisted.
Chief Nwosu when asked to assess the performance of the All Progressives Congress (APC) controlled government, said that the Nigeria has fared better under the APC government.
“A government is always measured through infrastructural development, economy and security, in all these sectors, APC government has done relatively well.
“The second Niger Bridge is 95 percent completion. Out of the twenty years of Nigeria’s democracy, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was in power for sixteen years, the South East was totally abandoned except for appointments. Now APC government is working on eighty eight kilometer Enugu-Onitsha express way.
“The two hundred and forty two Enugu-PortHarcourt is also receiving attention, for me, the South East has benefitted more from APC government than it does when PDP was in power for sixteen years.” Chief Nwosu stated.
He said that the Anambra State governorship election is a unique opportunity for Ndi-Anambra to wake up and be connected to the center by voting for the APC candidate, Dr Andy Uba.
