Anambra govt shuts schools in flood-prone communities

The Anambra State Government has ordered the immediate shutting down of primary and secondary schools in areas ravaged by flood.

This is following the devastating effects of flood in some parts of the state, which had also submerged communities and displaced many residents in various communities.

It was gathered that the closure would affect no fewer than 12 out of the 21 local government areas of the state that had been designated as flood-prone areas by the authorities.

Making the development known in a public announcement on Tuesday was Mrs Chioma Unachukwu, a personal aide of the state’s Commissioner for Education, Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh.
