Court Of Appeal Judge Theresa Orji-Abadua Dies At 64


The Nigerian judiciary has lost another eminent jurist with the death of Justice Theresa Ngolika Orji-Abadua, the Presiding Justice of the Court of Appeal, Benin Division, who passed away this morning at the age of 64, according to sources close to the jurist.

Justice Orji-Abadua, who was on the reserve list of nominees for appointment to the Supreme Court last year, hailed from Ikeduru in Imo State.

Born on October 15, 1959, she studied law at the London Metropolitan University from 1980 to 1983 before attending the Nigerian Law School from 1983 to 1984, where she was called to the Bar. She also studied at the School of Arts and Social Sciences at Northumbria University in the UK.

Her legal career saw her elevated from the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory to the Court of Appeal on February 15, 2008.

Justice Orji-Abadua’s passing at the age of 64 is a significant loss for the Nigerian judiciary, which has lost a seasoned jurist known for her professionalism and commitment to the fair administration of justice.

I’ve seen pictures of you online posted on different platforms, I’ve steadily looked at them and told myself there must be a mistake somewhere, I kept reassuring myself this is not true, it’s probably a case of mistaken identity, My Lord can’t be dead right? Yeah you can’t, not now, not now, too early for humans like you, I’m sure something is wrong somewhere. I love you, you know it even amidst everything, you know we shared a bond, you know, why did you leave? Why? Why? I lost words to really say how I feel. Life is indeed a mystery. God!
