Dangote waiver: “Why block everyone else and allow one company?” Atedo Peterside asks FG

Billionaire businessman, Atedo Peterside says Nigeria is being rigged in favour of a handful of well-connected persons to the detriment of the majority.

Peterside, who is the Founder of Anap Foundation, stated this in a tweet on Monday.

The Founder of Stanbic IBTC Bank Plc said this in reaction to reports that the Federal Government has granted Dangote Cement a waiver to export cement through the nation’s closed land borders.

The Managing Director of Dangote Cement, Michel Puchercos, revealed Monday that the company resumed cement export to Niger and Togo in a controlled measure following a waiver from the Federal Government.

In an apparent reaction, Peterside said, “Allowing legitimate exporters & importers to move their goods across the border should be a no-brainer.

“Why refuse everybody else & allow only one company (Dangote)?

“This is why some of us argue that the Nigerian economy is rigged in favour of a handful of well-connected persons.”

Recall that President Muhammadu Buhari in October 2019 ordered the closure of the nation’s land borders to control arms smuggling and boost the economy.
