Decomposed bodies of eight beheaded persons have been found in a valley off the 11 miles axis of the Federal Highway in the outskirt of Calabar, Cross River State.
Local dwellers who farm close to the area found the bodies on Tuesday.
They raised the alarm, which attracted some travelers and passersby along the highway who stopped to observe the gory sights.
The Public Relations Officer of Cross River Command of the Nigeria Security Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), Mr. Eremi said officials who got to the scene confirmed “eight bodies – one female and seven male”.
He said no one knows how the bodies got there or who killed them but stated “we have taken note of the incident and proper investigation will be done.”
The Police Public Relations Officer Irene Ugbo did not respond to calls on the incident.
