Funeral of the late Pa Christopher Anajekwu Ekwulugo : Ifeanyi (IYCON) masterminded a unique ceremony

The funeral of the late Patriarch Christopher Anajekwu Ekwulugo (Okaonye Egbunaya) has been turned into a never-witnessed spectacular festival to commemorate the demised.

The precision with which the host and hostesses met the guests simultaneously with sitting arrangement, any imaginable menu, cocktails, and finest choice of champagne, cognacs, whisky, etc.

The top Nigerian entertainers had begun from the night before to engage the guests. But what people the saw was an endless effort by the top captains of industries, elected and appointed government functionaries streamed in vying to get just seconds to handover cow ropes, signifying that they came with cows or equivalent in cash or cheques.

When the late Patriarch Christopher Anajekwu Ekwulugo (Okaonye Egbunaya) died August, 2021 at the age of 88. The natural thing the family did was to bury him right away to fulfill the Patriarch’s wishes.

Chief Ifeanyi Ekwulugo (IYCON) announced to us that the burial will be on January 7, 2022. We at Vision Newspapers inquired why they needed at least five months to organize the funeral. IYCON informed us: “I like to plan to the minute details. I do not leave anything to chance.”

Indeed the preparation turned into an organized madness ranging from demolition of houses to construction of roads, street lights, preparation of the venue, and finally, deployment of the state-of-art-technology to synchronize everything.

The ceremony became a feeding venue for the less privileged who after meals will line up for the serving of suya (barbequed beef) from the multiple stands, including drinks. There was no desire for them to join the enclosed tents.

The event is expected to run through Sunday, officially.
