Suspected hoodlums have allegedly vandalised the transformer, cables attached to Delta State College of Education, Mosogar, Ethiope West Local Government Area of Delta State.
Daily Independent gathered that the college community woke up in the early hours of 8, November 2020, to see that the transformer servicing the college community was vandalized as several cables and other important components, making the transformer were removed.
It was learnt that College of Education, Mosogar, was in perpetual darkness for over 8 years until the appointment of the provost, Dr. Imide Israel who recently brought light to the college after several efforts and appeals to spirited individuals.
Our source, one of the community leaders, Elder Moses Onofeghabor has appealed to security agents to fish out hoodlums and ensure they are brought to book with their conspirators.
According to him, “Some persons in the name of community often time formed the habit of locking up the institution gate if contractors failed to give them percentage of any contract is to be executed in the college.
“The security personnel of the college who are mainly indigenes and community vigilante on the payroll of the college could not help the situation, but one question that still bothers the minds of the public is whether someone without knowledge of electricity can dare vandalized transformer from a high voltage without being noticed.
It can be recalled that the college had suffered a lot of setbacks as several items such as television, fridges, generators and others were carted away, including an already wired building.
All attempt to reach the Provost of the College of Education, Mosogar, Dr Imide Israel proved abortive but a junior staff of the institution who pleaded anonymity confirmed the incident and appealed to all to give the provost room to develop the school not frustrating his efforts.
