Igbo People in Lagos and the Igbo-states are having problems applying for the PVCs

Many Igbo people were denied registration for the voter’s card, otherwise known as the PVC, across several registration centers in Lagos.

Many of them alleged outright disenfranchisement as the INEC workers, in many instances, allegedly told them outright that only particular ethnic groups could get registered

In one of the videos recorded by the agitated citizens waiting to be registered by the INEC officials, one of the staff of the Commission was seen telling the Igbo people that they had only one registration machine. Unfortunately, the equipment had broken down.

Registration Difficulty Exists in the Southeast

In conducting the registration exercise in the Southeast, those willing to vote in the upcoming elections in 2023 are encountering severe problems fulfilling their civic duties.

The INEC issues are virtually the same across the five Eastern states. One of the frustrated people narrated the difficulties he encountered over two weeks trying to register for a PVC.

He called on the “INEC chairman to quickly intervene and release more registration equipment across the Southeast to cater to the desires of citizens in the zone.”

Some of them suggested that it was a grand design to disenfranchise them.
