The Chairman and CEO of Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing Company Ltd (IVM), Chief Dr Innocent Chukwuma (Opkuzu Ndigbo) arrived UNIZIK Awka permanent site to perfect and inspect the site that the university granted to the IVM.
The IVM will build an Innoson Vehicle service center to handle maintenance and training of UNIZIK students. The IVM will also build a CNG service station and also, a CNG conversion center.
The site is located in a strategic position, next to the Onitsha Awka Enugu road. The IVM will construct a dedicated road away from the express way to facilitate ease of access for vehicles coming to use the CNG service station for refill, and other services.
The Vice Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Professor Ugo Bond Anyaehie, was very enthusiastic to welcome Chief Innocent Chukwuma and his entourage to the University to continue an established relationship. “The difference this time is that the University and IVM are deepening the relationship to achieve a greater mutual benefits of both organizations,” Professor Anyaehie said.
The Vice Chancellor said that he is happy to work with the CEO of Innoson Group because he is a patriotic Nigerian who is always interested on how to move the country forward, by using his skills and companies to that effect.
Professor Anyaehie informed his team and Innoson’s entourage about remarkable meetings he had in the past with Chief Dr Innoson that amazed him and helped him form an opinion of his humility and simplicity.
The VC recalled some years ago, when he and his wife visited Innoson’s company to pick some souvenirs. While they there, a man in simple short and a casual shirt, approached him and removed a particle from his face. He noticed that couple of people had extended some congratulations to him for a national honor. Meanwhile, he was thinking that the man could be one of the managers.
He eventually opened a newspaper and was shocked to his bone to see congratulatory messages to the man who had just removed something from his face a moment ago. “The second time I met him,” the VC continued, was when he led a group from UNEC to solicit support from Chief Dr Chukwuma. The VC said that Chief Dr Chukwuma informed them that he could not do much for them because he was in court with GTBank. “Chief Chukwuma informed them that he would still give them a small car, and he did,” the VC conclubed.
On that note, the whole team drove out to the site the University granted to the IVM. Chief Dr Innocent Chukwuma promised the VC that his company will be work on the site as soon as possible. He told the VC that he is looking forward to many students deepening their knowledge through the facility.
