Mrs Obiano Hands Over Furnished Bungalow To Another Widow Mrs Eucharia Nwakibie Of Akwa, Ozubulu, Ekwusigo Council Area

Wife of the Governor of Anambra State, Dr Ebelechukwu Obiano has, through her NGO, Caring Family Enhancement Initiative, CAFE, handed over keys to a fully-furnished bungalow to Mrs. Eucharia Nwakibie, a widow from Isieke village, Akwa Ozubulu, Ekwusigo Local Government Area.

Mrs. Nwakibie, lost her husband in 2012 and had been forced to live in her father’s house afterwards due to accommodation difficulties with her seven children, two of whom had died during the challenging periods.

The newly constructed bungalow, as with others previously constructed, came with a borehole that would serve the beneficiary and her community including a standby generator that would power the building as well as the water.

The house is also equipped with a set of furniture, forty-inch LED television, standing fan, refrigerator, mattress and other basic living gadgets.
Presenting the keys to the widow, Mrs. Obiano said that she has always felt the need to support her husband by creating a foundation that revives the hopes of the downtrodden.

She also noted that she has always had a strong sense of responsibility to build an atmosphere of difference with her NGO in Anambra State, having trained over five thousand youths and women on vocational skills and helped them to start up and sponsoring other humanitarian programmes.
Mrs. Obiano, who also expressed satisfaction with the low recorded cases of Coronavirus in Anambra State, reminded the people of the need to keep adhering to its safety protocols as the disease remains effective and deadly.
The beneficiary, Mrs. Nwakibie, who was visibly astounded, said that the gesture remains a lifetime testimony for her family and commended the Governor’s wife for restoring her hopes.

On her part, the Commissioner for Social Welfare, Children and Women Affairs, Lady Ndidi Mezue, who noted that the beneficiary was randomly selected by the Governor’s wife out of four provisional choices, described the project as another of Mrs. Obiano’s show of kindness.
In their remarks, the Managing Director of Awka Capital Territory Development Authority, ACTDA, Venerable Amaechi Okwuosa and that of Anambra Signage and Advertisement Agency, ANSAA, Chief Jude Emecheta said that the Governor’s wife has adopted the biblical injunction of coming to the aid of the desolate in the society, a virtue that complements Governor Obiano’s excellent administration.

The Chairman of Ekwusigo Local Government Area, Barrister Austin Enendu, said that the Governor’s wife’s pattern of charity is unique because she has continued to revive the hopes of the downtrodden through interventions that impact directly on lives of people.

The house is one of the twenty-seven houses built by Mrs. Obiano and handed over freely to widows and less privileged women so far since the CAFE was officially registered as a charity organization in August 2014.
