The former President General of Obiofia, Nnewichi Nnewi in Nnewi North LGA of Anambra, Chief Mike Ibe Okonkwo(Onyechimereze) has on Saturday celebrated his 2026 new yam festival.
The event took place at his country home at Obi Umudala-Ogbuji, Umuezizee Obiofia Nnewichi Nnewi,
He said that the occasion is a yearly event for dedication and celebration of God faithfulness, love, safety and grace upon him and his household.
Chief Okonkwo who is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Torwaleen said
that he have nothing to appreciate God’s kindness upon him than to celebrate the day he assumed the throne of his Fathers on every 22nd of August.
He said as a matter of fact that he will always live to remember August 22 because he ascended the throne on the same date eleven years ago.
Chief Okonkwo who is also the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer(CEO) of Torwaleen Water Bottling Company appreciated all the personalities who turned up for the occasion.
He made special prayers for his family, community and guests during the occasion which witnessed a beehive of activities as it featured masquerade display, traditional music and dance.
The State Chairman of Young Progressives Party (YPP) Chief Moses Okeke, a stalwart of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) Hon Chike Agwuncha, the Chairman and Founder of Omepuruchukwu Charity Foundation, Chief Nicholas Echezona Nsoedo and other dignitaries too numerous to mention featured at the occasion.
