Shock as Senator Shehu Sani’s neighbour died from coronavirus complications


Shock greeted residents of Ahmad Pategi, Unguwar Sarki, Kaduna over the death of a businessman, Alhaji Shehu Usman as a result of coronavirus complications.

The decreased was living in the same street with notable Nigerians among whom were Senator Shehu Sani, Alhaji Umaru Mutallab, former Chairman of First Bank and Alhaji Dange Mahe, one time PDP senatorial aspirant from Sokoto State.

“The patient died of COVID-19 complications,” one of the deceased neighbours who wouldn’t like his name on print declared.

He said this afternoon, the police and officials from the Nigeria Centre for Disease Contol (NCDC) had taken over control of a house and the street.

However, when Tribune Online visited the street, normalcy had returned as there was no sign of people or security operatives.

The deceased, it was gathered died on Saturday at the Saint Gerald hospital, Kakuri from suspected COVID-19 complications.

It was gathered that the state government has already locked down the area, and restricted movement within the vicinity of the hospital.

As at the time of the filing this report, the police Image maker, ASP Mohammed Jalige noted that the DPO in the area had brief him but they are yet to receive a comprehensive report,  promising to call back as soon they got an update on the report.

Also as there is no official statement from the NCDC nor the state government as the time of filing this report even though a source in the hospital confirmed the death of the deceased but said he’s not in a position to make an official announcement.
