Wife of Anambra State Governor, Dr Nonye Soludo has paid glowing tribute to Nigerian nurses, describing them as unsung heroes whose compassion and dignity continue to transform healthcare delivery.
She also lauded the nurses for their contributions which she said go beyond medical duties, but bring hope, comfort and humanity to healthcare and the society at large.
Soludo made the remark on Tuesday in a message to mark the International Nurses Day, themed, “Our Nurses. Our Future. Empowered Nurses Save Lives”.
The governor’s wife, who doubles as the Founder of the Healthy Living Initiative commended the dedication, sacrifice and resilience of nurses in Anambra and beyond.
“Behind every recovering patient is a dedicated nurse who often stays awake through the night, offering reassurance in moments of fear and anxiety, while providing care with patience, strength and love.
“Their commitment continues to save lives, strengthen families and uphold the dignity of communities.
“The world is healthier, kinder and safer because of the invaluable role you play,” she said.
While wishing the nurses a happy International Nurses Day, Soludo urged them to sustain their commitment to quality healthcare delivery.
International Nurses Day, is observed every May 12, to mark the anniversary of the birth of Florence Nightingale, pioneer of modern nursing and to honour nurses for their role in healthcare systems.
