HRH Igwe Dr KON Orizu III received the new Commissioner of Police for Anambra State Police command, Nnanna Oji Ama, warmly in his palace.
With Igwe Nnewi to receive the new Commissioner of Police were Obi Afam Obi (Ogidi), Obi Uruagu, and Obi Umudim, Obi Benneth Okafor (Amaukwu)
Igwe received the new commissioner with abundant blessings and wished him great success in his duties, and he prayed that he would ascend to new heights in his career.
In addition to introducing the new Commissioner of Police by the Anambra State Police Command spokesman, Tochukwu Ikenga, who used the opportunity to introduce some senior officers in their delegation, including the Area Commander of Nnewi Area Command, ACP Austin, and ACP, Nnamdi Anabuike, who is charge of Finance and Administration. Incidentally, ACP Nnamdi Anabuike is a son of Nnewi.
The police spokesman informed Igwe Nnewi and the Nnewi dignitaries present to receive the new Commissioner of Police is a son of the soil. According to Ikenga, this is in line with the policy of the Inspector General of Police to place officers where they are more familiar so as to execute more efficiently to achieve positive outcomes. Ikenga highlighted that the new CP had served diligently in Nnewi as an Area Commander, and that is why he decided to begin his familiarity tour and community outreach from Nnewi.
The new Commissioner of Police, Nnanna Oji Ama, told HRH Igwe Dr Orizu III that he is one of his subjects, and he felt at home being before the Nnewi people, because he received wonderful cooperation during his stay at Nnewi.
The CP intimated Igwe Nnewi that he needed to hear directly from the people to know how best the police would serve them to ensure safety.
He also needs the people to know that he is accessible to them. This is one of the reasons why they have arranged the interactive section at Anaedo Social Club facility for the event.
CP Ama presented gifts to Igwe Nnewi as cultural homage demands.
The Nnewi Crown Prince, Dr Obi Orizu, on behalf of Igwe Nnewi and people of Nnewi, presented a gift of royal plaque to the new CP as a mark of acceptance by the people of Nnewi.
Obi Afam Obi gave the vote of thanks and reminded the CP in a lighter mood that he should take the gesture Igwe Nnewi extended to him to ensure he gets a wife from Nnewi to solidify his relationship with Nnewi.
