The ‘Sit At Home’ in Anambra state remained as usual: Debate has begun…

By Ezeakukwu Emmanuel Nsoedo

The ‘Sit At Home’ continued as people in the commercial cities of Nnewi and Onitsha continued to maintain the status quo.

You will recall that His Excellency, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, Governor of Anambra state, had directed all civil servants to report to work on Monday. The Governor had, in the same vein, directed the market leaders to open the markets, transporters to resume activities, etc.

All the markets and other businesses were under lock and key on Monday, March 28, 2022. The commercial vehicles were nowhere to be found as well.

It was only much later in the day that the market outside of the ultra-modern Nkwo Nnewi multi markets opened for business. The same goes for the commercial vehicular and motorcycle transporters that resumed business activities.

The people were willing to go to work on Mondays if there were vehicles, and proper arrangements for security were made, our sources maintained.

What Vision Newspapers had picked from the numerous people we talked to was that they agree with Governor Soludo’s idea. Still, they need the government to continue the move to resume activities on Mondays with concrete plans.

Vision Newspapers has a sense that the Governor’s admonition was well received.
