A social commentator, Mr Chima Christian on Sunday said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu wants to do good but version of his cannot.
Mr Christian identified the president’s old way of life as his major militating factor.
He said, “Inspite of President Tinubu’s frenetic efforts to turn himself into itself a bright president. In spite of his many attempts at oratory. In spite of the supposedly transformative ideas, which his apologists, erroneously, but sometimes genuinely, hope will yield results, there is still this near-unshakeable attachment to his old life.
“This attachment is so strong that it makes dull all his many efforts to shake them off by himself. Many Nigerians don’t see it, but Tinubu is really, desperately and genuinely struggling to become a good president. He wants to do good, but he can’t do it unaided.
“There is a place, and I’m afraid that President Tinubu might have gotten there, that a man’s past, if he is not radically helped, becomes his manifest destiny.
“Judging from where Tinubu is presently, whatever he does, whatever policy, whatever programme, whatever project, whatever heart posture, I’m afraid that his presidency will only bear the fruits of Babylon. Tinubu is in such a place where the only help he can now get is Jesus. Will he call upon Him?”
