Tragedy as an elderly woman perished in a fire that consumed her house

By Ezeakukwu Emmanuel Nsoedo

One Mrs. Okeke, mother of the late Charlie Accord and Emma White Okeke, died in the fire inferno that killed her and engulfed the family bungalow.

The incident took place at Ezekwuabor Otolo Nnewi at about 6 pm. The immediate location is after St Thomas Anglican Church, Akwudo Otolo Nnewi, adjacent to Ezenwegbu Rd near B Robinson Coffee House from the Oba Nnewi Okigwe express.

The cause of the incident is yet to be determined as the fire service personnel had not arrived at the scene to offer their expert opinion before our paper went to press.

It was through the effort of the strangers who intervened that the surrounding buildings were saved from the inferno. Unfortunately, the older woman and the family bungalow burnt to ashes.

As of the press time, no one could tell if the woman lived alone.
