Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, will on Thursday, October 15, 2026, host the second edition of the National Child Rights Summit.
The summit, themed “Harnessing Digital Technologies for Child Protection and Empowerment in Developing Countries: Opportunities and Challenges,” is scheduled to hold at 10:00 a.m. at the ASUU Secretariat, UNIZIK.
The Chairman of the Organising Committee, Dr. Obiorah Edogor, disclosed this in a press statement issued recently in Awka.
According to Edogor, the Anambra State Commissioner of Police, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, will chair the summit, while the Catholic Bishop of Makurdi Diocese, Most Rev. Dr. Wilfred Chikpa Anagbe, will deliver the keynote address.

He stated that the Vice-Chancellor of Imo State University, Prof. Uchefula Ugonna Chukwumaeze, will present the lead paper. The Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze, will be the Special Guest of Honour, while the President-General, Women’s Wing of the Anambra State Town Union Council (ASTUC), Mrs. Blessing Ukamaka Onuigwe, will serve as Mother of the Day.
The Vice-Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Prof. Bond Stanley Ugochukwu Anyaehie, will be the Chief Host.
Edogor said activities lined up for the summit include paper presentations by child rights experts, a panel discussion involving selected Students’ Union leaders, and presentation of the UNIZIK Pro-Child Rights Awards.
He noted that the summit will provide a veritable platform to accelerate discussions and foster pro-child rights actions among critical stakeholders and duty bearers, including religious and community leaders, state and non-state actors, human rights crusaders, civil society organisations and children.
The planning committee invited members of the public, child rights advocates and all persons interested in promoting child protection and empowerment to attend the summit.
