Nigeria @ 60: Obiano Calls For Prayers


Governor Willie Obiano has called on religious groups and leaders to offer prayers for the Nigerian-Nation, as she turns sixty and for Anambra State, that has just celebrated her twenty-nine years of existence.


The Governor who spoke during a special thanksgiving service to mark the Nigeria’s sixtieth independence anniversary, at the Cathedral Church of Saint Faith, Awka said that with the array of brilliant people in Nigeria the nation’s glorious destiny is still attainable despite trials and setbacks.
Governor Obiano who expressed optimism that there must be some good people in Nigeria called on all religious groups to keep praying for more prosperous country.


Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Solo Chukwulobelu, Governor Obiano also thanked God for the gift of good leaders He has blessed Anambra State with, observing that it was through the good stewardship of such dogged leaders that Anambra has been making steady progress.


The Governor maintained that Anambra is today adjudged the most secured State in the Country and thanked Service Chiefs whose gallant efforts made it possible.


He also reminded Ndi Anambra that it is not quite long that Anambra was declared one of the States with the least unemployment rate in the country and also as the most fiscally stable State in the nation after Lagos.
In a sermon the Archbishop Ecclesiastical Province of the Niger and Anglican Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Reverend Alexander Ibezim called on leaders to be alive to their responsibilities by making life more meaningful through the provision of democracy dividends.


The State Chief Judge, Justice Onochie Anyachebelu, the Head of Service Mr Harry Uduh, Service Chiefs, members of the Anambra State Executive Council which included the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Mr C-Don Adinuba the Managing Director of Awka Capital Territory Development Authority, Venerable Amaechi Okwuosa, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Anambra State Drainage and Forestry Management Agency Mr Chido Obidiegwu among others.
