Anambra Women And Children Affairs Commissioner Mezue Rescues Mentally Challenged Nursing Mother And Child At Umunze, Orumba South Council Area


Anambra State Ministry of Women and Children Affairs, at Umunze, Orumba South, Local Government Area, rescued a
mentally challenged nursing mother and her infant daughter from the
streets.

Following a call placed to the Commissioner for Women and Children
Affairs, Lady Ndidi Mezue, by her counterpart in the Ministry of
Housing, Architect Michael Okonkwo, who incidentally is from the area,
Lady Mezue dispatched a team of social workers to effect the rescue of
the middle aged woman who attracted public sympathy as a result of her pitiable condition.

According to the Commissioner, as a mother, she felt pity when she got
the call and immediately, dispatched a team to rescue the woman and
her innocent daughter.

She said they have been cleaned up and relocated to a government owned facility for proper care and rehabilitation.
