The Nnewi Solution Team has totally rejected Mayor Echezona’s bid for a second term, insisting that it is the turn of Nnewichi Community to produce the next Council Chairman.
The Convener, Chief Gabriel Chukwuma (Gabros) speaking during the meeting on Sunday, August 2, at his residence, Uru, Umudim Nnewi revealed that they have met the Igwe, His Royal Highness Igwe Kenneth Orizu lll as they agreed during their last meeting, adding that he promised to resolve everything this week.
He said Umudim PG blundered by saying that Nnewichi Community with only 3 quarters is too small to challenge Umudim with 17 quarters, noting that he has made himself available to stand for the people of Nnewichi to get what is rightfully theirs.
“I made a promise from day one to fight till the end. Today, I am happy to let you know that our fight for equity and fairness is about to yield fruit because we have the support of our Igwe and our people in diaspora.
“1997 Nnewi Rotational Agreement which was signed by the four quarters in Nnewi must be respected. A tenure is a tenure, nothing is changed” Chief Chukwuma insisted.
He urged the people present to always stand on the truth and shun evil.
“It is not Umudim’s turn to produce the next Council Chairman, Mayor Echezona Anazodo and his team should respect the 1997 Nnewi Rotational Agreement by stepping down for someone from Nnewichi ” he maintained.
Others who spoke during the meeting were : Chief Eugene Nwizugbe Anyanwuigbo niile, Chief Bennett Ngonadi, Hon. Augustine Ike Ikedoji, among others insisted that the agreement must be respected and Nnewichi should be allowed to produce the next Council Chairman.
