Bishop Hillary-Paul Odili Okeke officiated the reception of Sacrament of Confirmation for 166 parishioners of St Paul’s Catholic Parish Akabokwu, Nnewi

The new Catholic parish, St Paul’s at Akaboukwu Uruagu, Nnewi hosted the Most Rev Dr Hillary-Paul Odili Okeke who officiated the Sacrament of confirmation ceremony on the successful candidates.

What became apparent was the sheer number of candidates who were confirmed.

Friends and families were also in great number during the mass celebration, overflowing into the canopies set on the parking lots.

The Bishop during the homily dwelled extensively on the need to avoid sin. He noted that sin prevents one from being in harmony with God.

He urged the confirmed candidates to always avail themselves to confession with their priests so that they can partake in receiving the holy communion, which is a sure avenue to be in harmony with Jesus Christ.

The Parish Priest, Rev Fr. Nathaniel Madubugwu was praised for his love and dedication to the parishioners.

The Parish Priest who profusely thanked the Bishop for his many visits to the church; however, he and the parishioners attempted to extract monetary gift from the Bishop to help them procure a piece of land for expansion was not honored because of the huge financial deficit impacting major signature projects of the diocese.

The Bishop, however, appealed to the people to support the priest and the parishioners by coming to their aid.
