Otu-Umuokpu Anambra USA Association Empowers RECDOT


The Otu-Umuokpu Anambra USA Association Inc. Awka Chapter on Sunday visited the Rehabilitation Centre for the Disabled, Old and Trump(RECDOT) in Ozubulu, Ekwusigo Local Government Area of Anambra State.

The group founded by Jenny Ogadi actually put smile on the faces of the management, staff and children of the home as thirteen wheelchair, one hundred adult diapers, bags of rice, Noddles, big sized toilet rolls and cash was donated to them by the visiting group.

In her speech, the Awka chapter president of the association, Chinwe Ukoha said that they came to see the physically challenged persons at RECDOT so as to assist them.

Ukoha said that her group would surely partner with RECDOT in concrete terms noting that the responsibility of taking care of the one hundred and forty one children and sixty staff can not be left for the proprietress alone to shoulder.

She said that Otu-Umuokpu Anambra USA Association actually gave palliatives to the people in Awka during the Covid-19 pandemic lockdown.

“Some members came home last year and donated medical equipments to all the hospitals in Anambra State. That is what we do based on the organization’s vision of rendering service to humanity.” Ukoha noted.

Joy Ilochukwu, from USA in her remarks said that the group would surely return to empower the home.

She commeneded the proprietress of RECDOT, Dame Rosemary Odunukwe for all her efforts towards giving the lives of the less privileged and people living with disabilities a meaning.

The proprietress of RECDOT, Dame Rosemary Odunukwe thanked the visiting group for remembering the poor at this special time when Christmas is fast approaching.

She said that their intervention cannot go without attracting the blessings of the Almighty God who said that any assistance to the poor is actually an assistance to him.

Dame Odunukwe said further that the home has been surviving on charity even as she appealed to other groups and affluent persons in the society to borrow a leaf from Otu-Umuokpu Anambra USA Association.

About twenty members of the group were in Ozubulu for the visit.
