Cardinal Peter Ebere Okpalaeke, the head of the Catholic diocese of Ekwuluobia, Aguata LGA Anambra state has showered praises on qualities of the late Dr Mrs Obianuju Okoye the immediate past secretary of the Anambra state primary health care development agency who was buried recently in her husband compound, Etti village Nanka, Orumba North LGA, amid tributes from relations, friends, professionals bodies, and colleagues, etc.
Showering praises while delivering a homily during the burial mass of the late Mrs. Okoye held at the Holy Trinity Catholic church Etti Nanka which was presided by him, Cardinal Okpaleke, noted that life is not measured by how long somebody lives but how much somebody impacted on humanity.
While eulogizing the late Dr Mrs Okoye for using her talent as a medical doctor to impact very much on humanity especially to the poor and the less privilege in the society despite not living a long life, he called Nigerians especially the well to do in the society, politician, and the nation leaders to serve humanity instead of pursuing their selfish interest.
Said the cardinal, “Late Dr Obianuju Okoye has ran a good race by using her talent to serve humanity and touching lives, I am calling Nigerians both wealthy and those in leadership to emulate this great woman and pursue things that will improve the welfare of humanity so that the condition of the masses will be enhanced”
Speaking also during the mass, Bar Clifford Iloegbune Okoye, a former chairman of the Nigeria Bar Association, Aguata branch, who is the husband of the deceased stated that his wife lived and died for humanity, stressing that the vacuum she is going to leave in his life, their children, and entire members of their extended family will be difficult to fill.
On their part while Speaking to journalists after the mass, Chief Anugo Offor, the current chairman of Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) Aguata branch and Hon, Okwudili Ezenwankwo, a former chairman of Anambra State Amalgamated Traders Association (ASMATA), and the immediate past member of the House of Representatives who represented Orumba North and South constituency, as well as the current candidate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the same seat in 2027 general election, all described the late Dr Mrs Okoye as a virtuous woman, who throughout her lifetime served humanity by using her professional calling to touch many lives, especially the poor and indigents in the society.
The duo who called on her husband, Bar Okoye and the entire Okoye family to bear the loss with fortitude also prayed to God to accept the soul of deceased in paradise.
Highlights of the burial ceremony was paying of homages by friends, relations, in laws, well wishers of Bar Iloegbune Okoye.
There were cultural dances, comedies, musical performances, condolence messages from professional colleagues, among others.
