A frontline contender for Nnewi North, Nnewi South and Ekwusigo Federal constituency under the platform of Labour Party, Hon. Okafor Anthony Ikenna has declared youth empowerment and security as his top-notch objectives for vying for the House of Representative position come February, 2026.
Speaking to journalist during the 2026 Afiaolu Nnewi cultural festival, the Egbu-umuenem Otolo born business man said the youths are veritable tools for nation building, so they should not be relegated to the background. Similarly, he said maximum security of lives and property make business to thrive and results in optimal development. Hence, he has prioritised youth development/ empowerment and adequate security for the three local government areas if elected.
In his words, ” the place of youths in nation building can not be over-emphasized, without the youths, the community cease to exist because they are tomorrow leaders, opinion leaders and image makers of our country. So I will channel my attention to the needs of the youths of Nnewi North, Nnewi South and Ekwusigo by attracting youth empowerment programmes / projects, employing and engaging the youths into meaningful ventures, so that together with the youths, we can produce a minimal crime society because if the youths are meaningfully engaged, there will be no room for criminality because an idle mind is the devil’s workshop”.
“Also maximum security results un good standard of living, I will join force with the security agents and government at ensuring that insecurity ranging from kidnapping, abduction, passassination, theft etc which is poising serious threats in the region in recent times is curtailed”.
Expatiating on his origin, the Egbu-umuenem Otolo Nnewi born business man, Hon. Okafor said he is confident that he will make it under Labour Party based on his personality. Personality, name and antecedents make a candidate thick. “I am the son of Chief Christopher Okafor popularly known as Christomex. My father like some like-minded personalities of Egbu-umuenem Otolo Nnewi descent are famous for service to the church and people.Their sense of service and philanthropy are unparalleled. I will maintain the spirit of service and reputation which Egbu-umuenem Otolo Nnewi is famous for. The likes of Chief L.N Nsoedo( Ide Nnewi), Chief Rufus Onyeje( Orimiri Nnewi),
Chief O. G.
