Jonathan, Akpabio Pay Homage To Olu Of Warri


Former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan and Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio, on Saturday, paid a courtesy call on the Olu of Warri, His Majesty, Ogiame Atuwaste lll, at his palace in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State.

The two Niger Delta bigwigs were at the Olu’s palace separately with their entourages where they paid homage to the King on his recent installation as the 21st Olu of Warri. 

In the entourage of the former president to the Olu’spalace on Saturday was His Royal Highness, King Amalate Turner, the Obanema of Opume-Ogbia, Bayelsa State.

Recall that the former president had, prior to the coronation ceremony, sent a congratulatory message to the then Omoba, urging him to “use the opportunity provided by this divinely ordained appointment to contribute your quota to the assignment of national development.”  

President Jonathan and Senator Akpabio now join the list of top politicians, including ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo, and Governor Umar Ganduje of Kano State, among others who had paid visited to homage to Ogiame Atuwaste lll.

Like former President Obasanjo did, Senator Akpabio also paid homage to the first class monarch on Saturday afternoon by kneeling and bowing before the reverred royal throne. 

The Olu of Warri was crowned August 21, 2021 as the 21st Olu of Warri in Ode-Itsekiri, the ancestral home of the Itsekiris at at a numinous coronation festival that attracted dignitaries from far and near.
