Drama ensued at the monthly meeting of Nzuko-Ora Nnewi of Sunday, July 5, 2026. It was during the solemn occasion of breaking of Kolanut that all hell broke loose.
The process of sharing the Kolanut was going smoothly as His Royal Highness Igwe Dr KON Orizu III, took the kolanut through Chief Sir Moses Ezukwo, Obi Uruagu, Obi Umudim and Obi Nnewichi, all took their share of Kolanuts through their representatives.
After, HRH Igwe Nnewi had prayed with the kolanut, followed by Obi Uruagu and Obi Umudim, who concurred with the Igwe’s blessing, when it came to the turn of Obi Nnewichi’s representative, Ike Ezeobuo, Mr Okeke, to break the Kolanut, he said: “I am a good man who abhors evil in every ramifications, but I support one who perpetrates evil”.
The whole Nzuko-ora went into a hysterical frenzy before Ike Ezeobuo warned that he was only delivering a message from Obi Nnewichi and Nnewichi people. According to him, Obi Nnewichi, Obi George Onyekaba, had warned that yesterday’s meeting of July 5th, 2026, would be the last time any person should take a Kolanut on his behalf.
The import of the action at the Nzukora Nnewi became clearer at the monthly meeting of Nnewi Solution Team where Mr Benneth Ngonadi (Big Daddy), a senior adviser to Obi Nnewichi, informed the teeming gathering of people at Chief Gabros Chukwuma’s house, that Nnewichi Quarter is no longer involved with Nzuko-ora Nnewi.
Mr Ngonadi informed the stakeholders that the day they forced the secretary of Nzuko-Ora Nnewi m, Hon Chike Agwuncha out of his position that the Nnewichi people collectively gave him the mandate was the day they pushed him and Nnewichi people out. He reminded the stakeholders that Nnewichi people are not shying away from insisting that it is their turn to produce the next Council Chairman, that they are vigorously demanding that Nnewi people obey their agreement.
