Ohanaeze Condemns Femi Adesina’s Audience Granted Its Impostors

Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation has expressed dissatisfaction over the audience granted by Mr. Femi Adesina to some impostors who use the name of Ohanaeze Ndigbo for self gratifications.

This was contained in a press statement made available to Journalists in Enugu on Tuesday by Chiedozie Alex Ogbonnia, National Publicity Secretary, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide.

He said “The election of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide was held on January 10, 2021 at Dan Anyiam Statdium, Owerri, Imo State through which Ambassador Prof. George Obiozor and the current executives were duly elected.

“The election which was adjudged very free and credible was witnessed by the Chairmen and members of Traditional Rulers Council from Igbo Land, the South East Governors led by Engr. Dave Umahi, Members of National Assembly of Igbo extraction, the Ministers of the Federal Republic of Nigeria from Igbo Land, the Clergy and several Igbo groups that are affiliated to Ohanaeze Ndigbo.

“Although some persons went to social media to express their grievances, I am persuaded that it would have been most un-Nigerian for the aggrieved to accept their losses in good faith.

“Be that as it may, President Muhammadu Buhari on January 11, 2021, sent his congratulatory message to Prof. George Obiozor. In commending the “election of Nigeria’s former Ambassador to the United States, Israel and Cyprus, the President urged the eminent diplomat and scholar to deploy his immense experience within and outside government to forge greater unity of the country.

“President Buhari declared that, “given Prof. Obiozor’s rich background, especially, in international affairs and pan-Nigerian commitment, I have little doubt that his election is well-deserved and will serve not only the interest of Ndigbo, but also that of his fatherland.” He added that “we need all hands to be on deck for this country to move forward in peace and unity”.The Igbo leadership in the National Assembly have lent their supports in profound ways to the Obiozor group. Several high placed Nigerians and foreign missions have since sent congratulatory messages to the outstanding diplomat and his team.

“It is therefore very inconceivable that Femi Adesina, the supposedly number one chief press officer of the federation will play host to some charlatans in red cap under the guise of Ohanaeze Ndigbo. Those who read sinister motives to the Adesina romance with the Igbo renegades posit that as the Chief Press Secretary to the President, one would expect a high degree of prudence, scrutiny and reflection in the discharge of his duties.
