Southwest Governors, Others Hold Security Meeting In Ibadan


Southwest governors, first-class traditional rulers in the zone and top security officers have converged on Ibadan for a high-powered security meeting currently holding at the executive council chamber, of Oyo state Governor’s office.

The meeting which started at about 3 pm has in attendance Governors Kayode Fayemi (Ekiti), Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu (Ondo), Dapo Abiodun (Ogun), Gboyega Oyetola (Osun) and the host Seyi Makinde (Oyo).

Among the traditional rulers currently participating were the Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Saliu Adetunji; Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi; Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi; Akarigbo of Remo, Oba Babatunde Ajayi; Olugbo of Ugbo kingdom, Fedrick Akinrutan; and Olugbon of Orilegbon, Oba Francis Alao.

The Deputy Inspector General of Police, in charge of SouthWest, Mr David Folawuyo, the Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Ngozi Onadeko and other heads of security agencies in Oyo state were also in attendance.

The Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari, Prof Ibrahim Gambari; Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu and the Director General of the DSS, Yusuf Bishi who were expected at the meeting couldn’t make the journey due to bad weather.

It is expected that the chairman of the Southwest governors’ forum, Governor Akeredolu will brief newsmen at the end of the meeting.
