Valentine Ozigbo Gives Reasons For Guber Aspiration

By Isaac Ojo

Ahead 2021 Anambra State governorship election, a top notch Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) guber aspirant, Mr Valentine Ozigbo has explained why he is in the race.

Ozigbo, the former Head, Transcorp Plc who was speaking with journalists La-Luna Hotel Awka said that he is in the race because he is not comfortable with the status quo in the state.

He noted that Anambra State known as the Light of the Nation certainly deserves something better interms of leadership and governance.

Ozigbo, a chartered accountant said that under his watch, he hopes to inspire professionals to get involved in politics so that things can be done better in the overall interest of Ndi Anambra in particular and Ndigbo in general.

The PDP governorship hopeful who prides himself for having the capacity to create the positive change the good people of the state are yearning for said that the need to fix Anambra State has become imperative because of the strategic position the state occupies in Nigeria.

“Anambra is key to rescuing Africa and of course Igbos are fundamental to changing the face of Nigeria. We are known for enterprise, industry, widespread and indeed hold the nation together as we are known to contribute in no small way to the economy of the climes playing host to us. That is Igboman for you.

“There is urgent posturing for Anambra State because of the abundance human resources that can change the trajectory. If you fix Onitsha for example, you must have in the process positively impact every home in Igboland.” He said.

Mr Ozigbo who said he would leave the judgment of the performance of the incumbent governor Chief Willie Obiano to the people said emphatically that Anambra State can not afford to enthrone incompetency in the next election because of her fragile nature.

He said this is more so because of the debt profile of the state, faced with a dwindling revenue and increasing debt obligations.

The PDP guber hopeful, former Head of Embassies and Multilaterals, described Anambra State as a microcosm of happenings at the national level noting that he possess the moral intelligence, vision, transformational ability to give the state an exciting governance.

“It amazes me when people ask me why I want to be a governor when I have not been to the House of Assembly or National Assembly, for me being in the assembly for twenty years does not give any person the needed experience to move Anambra State forward.

“Experience as far as I concerned is occasioning a positive change in the field of human endeavor one finds him or herself. I led Transcorp from being a private concern to public sector driven with over three thousand shareholders and over two thousand workers taking their salaries monthly.

“Infact, whoever that is so much involved in the problem of the past should not have any role in the new Anambra we hope to build. We hope to institutionalize governance, I have a mastery of numbers, prudent and not ready to accommodate psychopants.

“Recent happenings in Nigeria, Covid-19 pandemic and EndSARS demonstration actually unmasked the weakness in governance which should make Nigerians look for a leader with radical passion for a change. It is unfortunate that Nigeria has ended up institutionalizing leadership without shame. We hope to change the trajectory in Anambra State.” Ozigbo stressed.

Asked to comment on the possibility of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to conduct a free and fair party primary, the governorship aspirant expressed optimism that PDP would get it right this time around as there is a radical difference in the leadership of the party in the past and the present.
