Obiano Asks Christians To Uphold Prayers As Anglican Faithful Hold Prayer Rally In Awka


Governor Willie Obiano has implored Christians not to relent in prayers as they lead to progress in a society.

Governor Willie Obiano said this while addressing the Anglican faithful during the 2020 one day prayer rally held at Dr Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka.

Onyinye Agubaeze reports that the prayer rally, with the theme, ‘We are more than conquerors’, attracted government officials, the nine Anglican Bishops in Anambra State and their wives, Joint Council of Knights, Church of Nigeria Anglican Communion, clergymen and their wives, as well as former governor of Anambra State, Dame Virgy Etiaba, among others.
It was convened to thank God for victory over the year’s challenges.


Addressing the congregation, the Governor, represented by the Managing Director, Awka Capital Territory Development Authority, Venerable Amaechi Okwuosa, appealed to those affected by SARS and Police brutality, to utilize the opportunity offered by Anambra State Investigative Panel set up to handle the issues to seek for justice In his welcome address, the Archbishop, Ecclesiastical Province of the Niger and Bishop, Diocese of Awka, Most Reverend Alexander Ibezim, urged Christians to be prayerful as only through God can victory be assured.


The Secretary of the Planning Committee, Venerable Solomon Chidoka, thanked all who made the event a success as well as prayed God to lead everyone who came, back to their various destinations.

Prayer for peace and progress in the state and nation at large featured at the event.
